Toxins

Toxins formed in late 2007 by Ky (guitars and lead vocals) and Sean Cleaver (bass and vocals) having briefly played together in Ky's band Surveillance State Prisoners. During this time they decided to form a grunge/punk-inspired band that reflected 'disenchanted youth'. They recruited Sean's former bandmate "Oxfez" on drums and then set about a long journey playing every London/Herts/Beds dive that would host them. The sets were usually very fast and nerve-shatteringly raw. This exercise in mental endurance culminated in 2 6-track EP's 'Beautiful Democracy' (2008) and '2many Humans' (2009) which were later both released on iTunes as mp3 downloads. Limited CDs were also given away at gigs. Following a headline slot at an Amnesty UK benefit gig in December 2010, Sean quit the band and Toxins recruited new bassist Dill Tasker, a friend and one-time collaborator of Ky's. Gigs and small festival slots ensued the following year with new material also written, rehearsed, scrapped, revived, demoed, aborted, postponed, re-recorded and (inhale)... eventually, a new EP 'Disaffector' was recorded by Shane Shanahan in August 2012. But due to a mixture of personal problems and members' other projects and commitments, release was delayed until 17th February 2013 where it is now available on limited CD or free download (or any price fans choose) at http://toxins.bandcamp.com The EP was launched at the debut gig of The Idea collective at The Good Ship, London on the release date where they rocked out with a generous handful of up and coming punk/rock/alternative bands.
