Fusing classic hardcore with infectious melodies, Edmonton’s own Lucid Skies bring aggression and stage banter that invites the crowd to become a part of the performance. Aggressive vocals combined with melodic riffs allude to metal, while sticking to their hardcore influences. Instrumentally, Lucid Skies draws from d-beats, breakbeats, and breakdowns. The music is peppered with chugging bass lines and complimented by rhythmic guitar arrangements. In the last few years, a lot of hardcore has lost it's sheer gutsiness. Bands come across with a squeaky clean sound and expect to be accepted like normal kids. In other words, ripping part all of the magic of what hardcore stands for. Lucid Skies don't peddle into any of that, instead choosing to pioneering a fresh and innovative sound that pushes hardcore limits and brings back the down and dirty feel that makes the originators of the genre so glorious. Bloody and proud of it; the music is tough, brutal, and unforgiving. Truly reflective of a band who are ready to give their lives for their music. Shining, destructive and showing a lot of promise; a triumphant artistic statement. The kind of music that reaches out and touches the soul, not with beautiful chords or heart rending lyrics, but a simple desperation and brutality that speaks louder than anything else.
