Nina Karlsson

Nina Karlsson is a composer, lyricist, singer, pianist and musician who performs on stage her own songs and other kind of music forms. The musician is best-known not even for her distinctive music and voice but mostly for her jewelery work with folklore and classical forms incrusted to her songs becoming the new classic of our age in her russian part of music on one hand and on the other hand for her brilliant and so poetical lyrics written in english language and performing on music, art stage and screen. A classically trained musician (Saint Petersburg's Conservatory), Nina also enjoyed a successful modeling career and works in an art union with worldwide-known and great-talanted multimedia artist and film director Evgeniy Granilshchikov. Those artistic and aesthetic strengths combine on stage, where Nina performs her own material in both English and Russian. The effect following her debut five years ago was instant: the nation’s most famous music journalist immediately invited Nina to publish her music on his label. St. Petersburg’s main entertainment magazine then declared her “Discovery of the Year.” And, simultaneously, she began to appear with increasing frequency on the pages of L’Officiel, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Elle, Interview, Esquire, Marie Claire and other magazines. For example the world-famous jewelry firm Cartier has asked Nina Karlsson to perform at official functions – for obvious reasons. Even Russia’s President has heard Nina's singing. Transforming those lofty achievements into popular success, she has played at the nation’s most important folk, jazz, pop, and rock festivals and best academic and filarmonical stages of Europe, Baltia and of course Russia. A range of singles, EPs, and videos have appeared since her 2010 debut album, “I Deny.” Sophistication and flair prove themselves very effective. As Nina Karlsson continues to win listeners' love for her taking part in video and music installations, performing at the music stage, screen acting, songwriting, soundtracks, and modeling, the future looks very bright indeed.
