Tiho Orlić Biography

Tiho Orlic (singer, producer, arranger, bass player) - born on November 16th 1976 in Split, Croatia. Attended the famous “Josip Hatze” school of music since he was 6 as the most talented candidate out of 180 candidates enrolled that year. He had exceptionally good listening pitch and because of that he was assigned the violin as his “instrument of choice”, although he wanted to play the guitar. During his education he sang as well and felt that he enjoyed it better than practicing written material. As he was finishing his formal education he started playing metal and hard rock with his friends and learning the tricks of the trade. In 1994. while he was negotiating with a studio about recording one of his band’s songs, he met M.P. Thompson who was recording at the time. After they met, Tiho sang one of Thompson’s songs, and Thompson hired him to sing backing vocals. As their friendship grew Tiho was hired as Thompson’s bass player and backing vocalist. Although not a bass player by vocation, he learned all of the bass parts in a couple of weeks and had his baptizm of fire with Thompson in Germany. In 1997 Tiho served his mandatory military service. Not long after that he started his own career as a singer. The first show he played was the “Ethnofest” where he played an etho-rock song. A year after that he recorded a hit song (up to this day) called “Far away”. In the same time he worked on his own songs as well as Thompson’s where he started to co-produce and arrange songs that made diamond sales in Croatia. Tiho continues to win festival awards on is own as well as play in front of thousands and thousands of people which culminated with Poljud (Split city stadium) with an audience of 42 000 fans. He continues to win airplay awards both on commercial radios and internet airplay. In 2004 he put out his first solo record with major hits “It’s dangerous to love” and “Stay”. After that Tiho started working with Thompson on his album “Once upon a time in Croatia”. The album was recorded for over a year. Tiho took the role of producing, playing and co-arranging the songs. The tour supporting the album is well on it’s way. The tour brought record breaking crowds worldwide. They played Dinamo stadium in Zagreb with estimates of over 60 000 people. The tour also saw 8 shows in USA and Canada with two sold out shows in New York and a crowd of over 5000 in Toronto breaking the language barrier. On top of that, the tour also saw record breaking crowds in Australia culminating with a crowd of 15 000 in Sydney. Parallel with that, Tiho Orlic became a Dean Artist because of the fact that he plays Dean Dime Razorback Nt bass in honor of late guitarists Dimebag Darrell. The Florida based company has published Tiho 2 times on their front page, alongside Rudolf and Michael Schenker, Anthrax, Dave Murray of Iron Maiden, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Dimebag Darrell, Sammy Hagar, Steve Stevens, Michael Angelo Batio, ZZ Top and now Tiho is almost a year in love with his new family of Dunlop Manufacturing and WARWICK basses!
