Echo Movement Biography

The Brothers
Stephen and David were raised on the beach. As they grew up, the ocean became the founding rhythm for their music. By age five, Stephen was singing and David was playing the piano. But it wasn't until college that they started performing together. In 2005, they wrote, recorded and released their first full-length self-titled album as Echo Movement. It became an instant local hit as a quintessential summer, surf and beach sound. Embraced this success, they sought a band of musicians who could support their needs for global-reaching music.

The Band
Although “band of brothers” is a cliché, few words could describe Echo Movement better. Member by member, the band assembled into a mosaic of influences and tight performance. Each person brought a new color, if not palette, to the band's sound. Echo Movement finally settled as an eight-piece group of music grads, philosophers and progressives. The band evolved from feel-good beach music to feel-right mind music.

In The Ocean – The New Album
Unlike its two full-length predecessors, In The Ocean is the first album by Echo Movement as an expanded band. A certain passion is captured in the writing and recorded performance.

All I Can is an immediate album favorite. After ten years in the writing phase, this peacefully-climatic song embodies the brothers' exhausting, tenacious pursuit of music. I Think God Smokes Weed provokes investment of thought. It is far from a parody or a simple stoner song, but instead a creative explanation for the imperfections of man.

There are a few celebrity appearances on the album. President Franklyn D. Roosevelt's
famous Inaugural Address leads I Know Why, a sociopolitical commentary. It also features
Streetlight Manifesto drummer Chris Thatcher in a ten-piece drumline. World-renown
theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking introduces In The Ocean's last track, In The Beginning.
The cover art for In The Ocean was painted by the band's close friend and surf artist Jay
Alders. The original piece is called Burning Inspiration, and was painted while In The Ocean
was recorded. The song The Day After Chill was recorded live in Jay's studio while he worked
on the painting.

Echo Movement
Echo Movement is about love. It's about a passion to learn, communicate and appreciate
life's opportunities. It's a recognition of the ability to choose your level of involvement in
humanity. It's respect for the earth and our global community and an honor to the pursuit of
happiness. It's a shrine to the human range of emotions. It's an expression of music, culture
and freedom. Echo Movement is about love, and that is all you need.
