Verdant Mile Biography

Way back in June 2011 three kids in a basement started a band consisting of guitar, bass and drums. With a couple of decidedly shady, but loud, practices these kids were ready to play a show. Soon realizing they needed a second guitarist to play lead, and the hunt was on. In September they found their new lead. As things progressed and with many shows under their belts, they decided to record their first release. Starting off the new year in studio they were determined to make something brilliant. But as the saying goes, all things must come to an end and later that same year, the band broke up. That band was Young Men Dead; TJ Payne on rhythm guitar, Nathan Watkins on lead guitar, James Crosbie on bass and TJ Watson on drums. As the year marched on, three members of that project decided to get back together and try something new. Nathan, James and TJ (Watson). With TJ Payne gone it was a difficult rebirth, but ultimately the hard decision to continue on without him was made. With their drama concluded and a new sense of purpose, one final decision was made...bring rock back to Seattle. What kind of rock was another question (and is still gradually folding out). With the three young men having VERY different tastes in music and varying opinions as to how low an amp is allowed to be in practice, the consensus that was finally reached was the classic rock of the 1960's and 70's; bands like the Rolling Stones, The Who, and Led Zeppelin to be exact. But they needed a modern edge as well; and what better role models than The Black Keys, Wolfmother and The White Stripes as sources for inspiration. With this they continue to sweep the scene and turn heads, reminding people that ROCK isn't dead and is very much alive in Seattle of all places. Ladies and gentlemen we present to you: Verdant Mile. We are here to bring Rock n' Roll back to Seattle.
