The Stages of Sleep Biography
The Stages of Sleep is loosely based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with collaborating members in New York and Oregon. There have been several incarnations of the band, with songwriter and front-man Jason Ardiles always at the heart. The Stages of Sleep began as a few old friends collaborating in the studio back in 2008. They ended up creating such an elaborate sound in their recording sessions, with strings, horns, and multiple percussionists, that they eventually put together a seven-piece band to be able to perform the songs live. The group became known for their dynamic, no-holds-barred performances and unique Indie Gypsy Rock sound. They released their self-titled EP in 2011, followed by their full-length album, Carousel, in 2012. The group performed live consistently until 2014, when members’ lives started to go in different directions. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Jason Ardiles, yearning for a more pared-down, acoustic sound, began to write new material and perform solo. He and producer Seth Paris returned to the studio in 2015 with a handful of other musicians to record what would become The Stages of Sleep’s new album, Half Moon Day. Jason is currently working on perfecting his one-man acoustic/electric live looping performance and is armed with new material for his next trip to the studio.
