FireFlyForest swirls and sways through many moods and styles: from haunting harmonies to driving grooves, symphonic arrangements to simple folk melodies. Eau Claire, WI veteran Steven Hobert writes the music and leads the group with piano, accordion and vocals that range from playful and quirky to delicate and soothing. The debut release “Ballet” is filled with lush cacophonies of sound with violin, vocal harmonies, world percussion, sampled sounds of nature and city life . . . Personnel on the album includes drums and vocals from Sean Carey (Bon Iver, S. Carey), pedal steel guitar from Ben Lester (AA Bondy, Field Report), and banjo from Shane Leonard (Field Report).
