Ackers Biography
Since his humble beginnings fronting progressive rock bands across Sydney and having the opportunity of supporting a number of Australian bands such as COG and Dead Letter Circus, Ackers decided to pursue his love for the acoustic guitar and as an independent songwriter. After being introduced to open tuning through the music of John Butler, he continued down this path further building on ways to become more creative and stretch his artistic abilities. Having drawn influence from many genres he is described as having a very Australian, earthy sound, with a hinting progressive feel; incorporating percussive and melodic elements using the body of the guitar, stomp boxes, didgeridoo and loop pedals, among other things. Complimented with insightful, honest lyrics he connects with the listener creating a primal energy that will resonate long after he has left the stage. Already with a few supports under his belt, Sarah McLeod, Clint Boge, Joe Moore; performing at the Byron Bay Bluesfest as part of their busking stage, perfoming at the Mt Eliza Music Festival and his debut EP due for physical release in 2016, Ackers is continuing to evolve and explore his sound and rhythm to further express himself as a musician.
