South Street

A high energy mixture of rock, funk, reggae and punk fuel this Charleston based four piece. Since 2011 they have toured the southeast region, sharing the stage with acts such as The Expendables, The Movement, The Green, Passafire, Fear Nuttin Band, and Pacific Dub. Their first full length album, "Late For Tomorrow," released April 2014. "South Street knows how to get down. Their music resonates with music lovers of all ages, but it truly hits home with the college-aged demographic," says Amanda Muirhead of The Music Initiative. "The band as a whole is definitely magnetic... They like to have fun everyday--but their music is no joke" Lead singer Dexter Jenks and guitarist JR Spencer met while working at Pita Pit after their quirky boss insisted the two musicians meet. After a soulful jam between the two musicians, Dexter’s close friend Sam Roberts was brought into the mix on drums. Dexter met bassist John Barry through the music program at College of Charleston; and South Street was born. South Street’s diverse musical backgrounds create an original sound that listeners can't help but nod their head to. Their energy and intensity on stage and in the studio are unmatched.
