Fely Tchaco Biography
Fely Tchaco is an independent artist, an award winning, and Billboard nominee Ivorian American singer songwriter performer based in San Francisco California. Before relocating to the United States, Fely was a household name in Cote d’Ivoire; where she had won the hearts of many fans with her hit song “Mon Espoir” that featured celeb American actor Tom Lister who is best known for his character “Deebo” in the Friday TV series.
Fely Tchaco, was the winner for the 2012 Independent Music Award in the “Best World Beat Song” category, with her song titled “GOBA” from her album Maturite.
Fely sings in English, French, and Gouro (her native tongue, a language spoken by many in the Ivory Coast). Fely’s music style is a fusion of traditional music from her culture, with modern music such as jazz, and pop, which creates a beautiful texture that she calls “Tribal Pop”. Fely Tchaco tries to create modern music while retaining the African sound. To date, Fely has released 5 Albums. Her latest album “YITA” which was due to be released in the spring of 2020 has been pushed back to early 2021 due to the novel Coronavirus.
Fely’s persona with a strong stage presence in live performance, and incredible dance skill has won her $45,000 grant award for the HAAS Foundation Creative Work, in collaboration with Diamond Coura on her dance and music project called “The Legend of Zaouli”. Fely Tchaco is multi talented, she is a visual artist, fashion designer, an entrepreneur. A dedicated cultural ambassador, and advocate whose work has been recognized by the Mayor of San Francisco, the Board of Supervisors, and the California Assembly. Fely is among the founding members of the San Francisco African American Arts and Cultural District. she is a mother and a wife, married to former Audio Director and Lead Composer of Electronic Arts Jerry Martin. Fely Tchaco is the founder of African Arts Academy and organization specialized in the teaching of arts and craft originating in Africa and the Africa Diaspora.
