The Melodramatics Biography

What do you get when you mix two parts reggae, one part ska, a healthy dose of rock ‘n’ roll, and a dash of punk? Why Northern California’s The Melodramatics of course! This four-piece group has blended together the So Cal reggae beach vibe with the edginess of The Bay Area ska/punk scene into a happy-go-lucky sound that has kept dance floors moving all over the West Coast. The Melodramatics kick off 2012 with the Save The Humans Tour. The Melodramatics will be releasing a new song every two months to keep the interest of loyal fans and to capture new ones along the way. These musicians live for the road and love traveling from city to city making new friends and fans. With a strong DIY work ethic, the band has relentlessly toured up and down the West Coast from San Diego to Seattle, as far east as Boise, ID and Tucson, AZ. In 2011 The Melodramatics released their first full-length studio album. “If you enjoy Cali-reggae, definitely find a way to purchase this album,” said a review from The Pier, “The musical side of the album is superb.” The band grew up being strongly influenced by bands such as Sublime, The Expendables, Slightly Stoopid, and Less Than Jake. The Melodramatics have had the honor of sharing the stage with many acts over the years, some of their favorites have been Reel Big Fish, The Ataris, Israel Vibration, The Supervillains, The B Foundation, Mystic Roots, Top Shelf, Ease Up, The Holdup, and Mike Pinto. “You can’t just sing the words, man. You gotta feel ‘em.” says lead singer and guitarist Caleb Saccheri. “I could probably talk for an hour about each of our songs telling you what moment in life inspired the lyrics.” . In high school The Melodramatics had hijacked the local music scene when they formed a punk band and began filling mosh pits wherever they played. “Back then we had no vision.” says Caleb about their true goal. “We grew up listening to bands like Sublime, NOFX, and Reel Big Fish.” Their vision started to become a reality when the band met trombonist Richard Hughes. “I like to blow my bone. In people’s faces,” says Rich, describing his energetic presence on stage. The Melodramatics had finally found the missing piece they needed to find their niche in the music scene. This new spark of inspiration fueled two full-length DIY albums and their first tour of the west coast in 2008. With Kyle Paolinetti laying the backbone to the music with solid beats, The Melodramatics have a lineup unlike any and have not stopped spreading music and positive vibes wherever they perform. To truly experience The Melodramatics and their reggae/rock party vibe you have to see them live. The music will lift your spirits, the rhythm will make you move, and the melodies will not leave your head. IN THE PRESS... "The musical side of the album is superb ... If you enjoy Cali-reggae, definitely find a way to purchase this album." -Matt Emodi - ThePier.org Album Review “The Melodramatics have managed to capture the careless party spirit of summer with their blend of music that is just what their name implies. This album is a mix of the mellower sides of reggae and dub found alongside the up-tempo dramatic urgency of punk rock and ska.” -MusicBailout.com Album Review “I couldn’t help but be amused just by the appearance of this reggae/rock band. Their original songs were great and memorable, with songs like “Playing It Cool,” which brought the punk/rock out. Another song, “Under the Influence,” was a skanking rock.” -Sandie Ganliz NUG Magazine Live Show Review "The Melodramatics always delight, entertain, and rock their audiences. Out of the thousands and thousands of bands that I personally have worked with, The Melodramatics are one I expect great things from in the future. This is a band that's tight, precise and just overall fun to watch and to listen to." -Rachel Lane, Hostess of Unfamous and Unspun - 106x Redding’s Rock (106.1 FM) “The Melodramatics were the most professional, pulled together, consistent band of the night. The drums, guitar, bass and vocals all blended smoothly and sounded put-together.” -Jessica Brouwer, Staff Writer - The Orion (CSU, Chico) "New EP "Looking Forward" on iTunes January 26th!
