Erin Corday Biography

Erin Corday has just released "Where the Body Is," her fifth album and first new studio recording in 12 years. One of the "Best Albums of the Year" on the Euro Americana chart, the new album also heralds Corday's return to the stage. Erin has headlined at premier concert halls (500-1,200 seats) with Jonny Cunningham, Mícheál Ó Domhnaill and the Flying Karamozov Brothers. The “quietly alluring hit” at the Mission Folk Music Festival (becoming the season's third top-selling artist on a lineup with David Lindley), Erin's live performances have earned her Mainstage billing at the Ottawa Folk Festival, High Sierras Festival, Blue Skies and the Primer Festival de Verano in Mexico City. She has co-billed on festival panels with Martin Sexton, Patti Larkin and Vance Gilbert, and served on the faculty of the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, California Coast Music Camp and Georgia Straight Guitar Workshop. Erin has also opened shows for Richard Thompson, Donovan, Michael Doucet & Beausoleil, David Grisman, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Ferron, Martin Simpson, Roger McGuinn, Jesse Colin Young, Jonatha Brooke and Brazilian superstar Milton Nascimento. With influences as diverse as Sarah McLachlan, Bebel Gilberto, Daniel Lanois and Ali Farka Toure, Erin Corday is known for her epic rhythms and subtly dynamic performances. Moving from rhythmic folk-chill to lush down-tempo ballads and Americana, Erin’s current instrument of choice is her Gibson ES-335 electric guitar. With Joel Litwin on drums and Aaron Harmonson on bass. "Percussively powerful... unforgettable." Boston Phoenix "Lilting acoustic magic" Ottawa Sun "Corday electrified a Port Townsend audience that filled McCurdy Pavilion last year... she could have stayed all night." The Leader, WA "The lineup is awesome... including David Grisman, Beusoleil, Richard Thompson, and our favorite singing wonder Erin Corday." Summer Solstice Festival, CA "Corday Held the House in the Palm of her Hand at Madison's last week. Every seat was full, every eye and ear eager…You could not only hear a pin drop, but you could hear every nuance in the sound, which was exquisite." Sandy Bradley, Seattle Weekly "The gentler -- yet powerful -- strains of Seattle-based Erin Corday gave the audience a chance to catch its breath and settle into a set of haunting songs fueled by a massive voice... a magical Chilean folk song about a man and his horse, and the tasty dramatics of Land Of Sweetness. Corday's another one of those unknown treasures we've discovered and won't forget" Rick Overall, Ottawa Sun New album, Where The Body Is, available now at http://www.erincorday.com or http://www.erincorday.bandcamp.com "Best Albums of the Year" - Euro Americana Chart
