Dialectrix Biography

Undoubtedly one of Sydney’s favourite hometown artists, Dialectrix is regarded as one of the most prolific MCs and hip hop performers in the country. Breaking out in 2004 as a vital member of Down Under Beats, the group were quickly crowned as that year’s Triple J Unearthed winners. The emcee experienced immense success through live radio performances, including his spin on Spiderbait’s ‘Buy Me a Pony’, which featured as a part of Triple J’s Like A Version segment. The rework quickly became a fan favourite and a part of the 2011 compilation of the same name. Further adding to list of ever increasing accolades, Dialectrix’s track ‘The Facilitator’ featured on Melbourne based producer M-Phazes ARIA award winning release, Good Gracious in 2010. Dialectrix is also a key member of hip hop super group Gully Platoon (Pegz, Joe New, DJ 2Buck), again indicating his status as one of the scenes most wanted talents. A decade on, the passionate lyricist has built up a legacy, featuring two full length LPs (Cycles Of Survival 2008, Audio Projectile 2011) with his latest EP length instalment, Satellite, currently circulating the hip hop realm. Fans are also patiently awaiting the christening of the lyrists’ third studio album, The Cold Light of Day, set for release mid May 2013. Displaying a knack for complex rhythmic poetry and onstage showmanship, Dialectrix has carefully crafted his art form to an inimitable standard, making the east coast artist a major target for collaborations, both nationally and internationally. This polished form of hip hop has been the focal point of his releases, as the MC works towards a technically and creatively sound musical gold mine. “My first recordings that I ever did years ago were sloppy, messy and out of place, As I grew as a lyricist and a vocalist I learnt techniques on how to tighten it all up, You learn different mechanisms of writing and recording which help what you’re doing to become seamless and metrically perfect.” – Dialectrix With the release of his forthcoming album, The Cold Light Of Day, merely a blink of an eye away, the well-travelled rhymester has be anxiously awaiting his next opportunity to take the stage and once again preach the hip hop word.
