Mixtape Presents Flava D, Oceantied on 2nd June 2018 Fandom at Gilly's Redefined, Bangalore 10:00 PM onwards.Flava DOn the face of it, the Bournemouth born Flava Ds outlook on her career seems pretty simplistic: she likes to make music, constantly. And although theres undoubtedly a whole lot more planning and thought that goes into the thinking behind the timing and positioning of her releases, shes maintained the purity of that initial enthusiasm and its helped her go from selling beats on Myspace to headlining club nights and festivals and releasing well-received album projects (such as her FABRICLIVE 88 mix and the TQD album ukg) in a number of years.Ever since the appearance of Hold On, her 2013 debut release on the Butterz label, Flava Ds ably established herself as a player working in that furtive arena where garage, grime and bassline music intersects. More than adept at making the wonderfully smooth and bumpy UKG of tracks like More Love, shes also demonstrated a knack for producing harder hitting club cuts like In the Dance and her remix of Rhythm & Gash. Its precisely that kind of widened scope she explored and demonstrated to the fullest in the making of FABRICLIVE 88 when she set herself the task of producing 90% of the music used on the mix herself. As a core part of the Butterz record label shes found a crew thats positively blossomed from the incorporation of her music and as a result of that relationship shes collaborated with luminaries like Wiley and My Nu Leng, toured the globe relentlessly and [possibly more importantly] been afforded a position where shes encouraged to just make music, constantly.Oceantied The past year has been abuzz with news from Oceantied, who has been steadily making a mark for himself both internationally as well as in India. From performing at the first Boiler Room session in India to playing at playing at two of the biggest European festivals, Outlook and Dimensions festivals, the solo electronic project started by Ketan Bahirat, Oceantied is a deep-dive into the artists sprawling soundscape. Ranging from dark and frenetic, to upbeat and dancefloor - friendly, Oceantieds palette of sounds spans the genre spectrum easily, with a generous helping of beats, funk and fat basslines to have audiences crawling the walls. Fresh from his residency at Red Bull Music Academy, Montreal, and from spreading his unique brand of melodies all over the globe, Ketan Bahirat released his debut EP Tribes in December,2016. Tribes, which has been in the works for two years, draws inspiration from Bahirats views of the world around him. Polished with skills Bahirat picked up at the Red Bull Music Academy, Tribes is an immersive delight for a range of music lovers, genre no bar. From new-age footwork and jungle to eclectic electronic beats made through found sound, to recordings on Indian streets and samples from field recordings, Tribes is a multi-layered, engrossing experience in itself.
