I Was There

When the brutality of mankind reaches depths of unspeakable ferocity, music and poetry restores the dignity of a population.

These songs, most of them in Yiddish, were written in the ghettos and concentration camps between 1942 and 1944.

Songs that were sung in the long lines waiting for a watery cup of soup, cradle songs, songs of rebellion and hope, songs that celebrate life and love songs that mirror the unspeakable horrors of the Holocaust.

Songs we shall never forget
Songs I sing with my heavy heart filled with grief and sorrow
Songs for Eternity.
