Water Rats
London, United Kingdom
The Flaming Stars- Wonderful to bring The Flaming Stars to The Water Rats, a great combination of glitz and grind I'm sure you'll agree. John Peel loved em and so do we, their slinky garage punk tweaked rocknroll romantique hits a beautiful sweet spot somewhere between garage punk, louche rock and roll, Spaghetti Western twang and bar room balladeering- but it's always balls out, brazen and rocking. Tiptop trashy keys get troubled sporadically by frontman, bon viveur and wordsmith Max Decharne who we reckon might just be Ye Dirk Bogarde of Trashe. Jaws were eventually prized up from the floor last time we saw these guys masterfully conjure a set that included classics from their 15 year plus career and even a fiercely mode-ish take on Magazine's 'The Light Pours Out Of Me'not to be missed then.

Hot Doggy-Rocking a comedy image full of glam rock and nerd cast off clothing, a sprawling messy alt rocknroll thing with nasty riffage and lots of narcotic nuances punky freak gear with nice Pink Fairies touches and a bit of The MC5 n all. Fab.

The Reformers-Spritely twisty turny alterno guitar pop with a skanking punkinesssin fact they're a ska band (originals mind) but a very punky one- as if 1st album Clash were playing bluebeat basically, neat.

Kajiki Volt-Post punk through a surf guitar- garage punk lens, think a more frenetic Gun Club via Magazine, shades of Gallon Drunk and the sorely missed Penthouse too. great tunes interesting arrangements, played with conviction. Fab
