M.O.N.R.O.E.
(Get Physical, Kindisch, Cuttin’ Headz)
Miami-born, global citizen M.O.N.R.O.E., also known as Jordan Postrel, is part of the new wave of rising DJs and producers who are responsible for shaping the future of electronic music with exciting, fresh beats. M.O.N.R.O.E. may be on the younger side of his peers, but he has taken to music production with zeal. His tracks are characterized by oscillating grooves that are perpetual, sensuous and hypnotic in their rhythms, and overlaid with lush melodies. An enjoyable evening for M.O.N.R.O.E. is comprised of either chasing a sample idea or simply just jamming away on some of his favorite gear (specifically the TR-808, the Moog Filter, and the Juno 60).
M.O.N.R.O.E. is no stranger to music - his father has produced the likes of James Brown, Tina Turner, and Todd Rundgren. He started DJing at the young age of 17 and two years later, began producing music when he was only just 19. Despite his musical family background, M.O.N.R.O.E. learned music production on his own from scratch.
Mentors like DJ I-Emerge, Machine Drum, Mike Cupino, Patrick Grooves, and DV8 label boss Daniel Dubb have helped him immensely along the way. After a short stint in the fashion industry, M.O.N.R.O.E. turned to producing and DJing full time, focusing all of his energy and passion.
In 2014, M.O.N.R.O.E. got his first break on Steve Lawler’s label VIVa MUSiC with his ‘Don’t Flex EP,’ produced with Daniel Dubb. The momentum of his productions spiraled and in 2015, after an inspirational experience at Burning Man, he was rewarded with an offer from Get Physical to work as an artist on their label after releasing his ‘What I Got EP.’ Now, he has releases housed on VIVA MUSiC, Inmotion Music, Saved Records, Desert Hearts Records, and Kindisch just to name a few. M.O.N.R.O.E. has released his own compilation on Get Physical and he has a remix of ‘Stuff In The Trunk feat. Miss Kittin’ in the works that will be released on Cuttin’ Headz.
The music M.O.N.R.O.E. creates draws inspiration from the many places he has lived in: Milan, Paris, New York, Miami, and Ibiza. Each city exposed him to various electronic music scenes, elements, and styles whether it was the grunginess of Milan nightlife, the compression techniques and vocal samples Parisians wield in their productions, or the keeping of a steady groove throughout that the after parties of Ibiza are known for – all of which can be heard in M.O.N.R.O.E.’s body of work.
Being a prolific producer has given M.O.N.R.O.E. quite the advantage DJing, drawing heavily from unreleased material that can only be heard during a M.O.N.R.O.E. set. His notable plays include renowned clubs Watergate and Katerblau in Berlin, the tropical SXM Festival in St. Martin, Montreal’s Velvet, and One Loft in Toronto. While he continues to expand his repertoire abroad, M.O.N.R.O.E. has held it down in the US playing Panther Room in New York, Desert Hearts Festival in Southern California, Space Miami, III Points Festival Miami, and Sound nightclub in LA. Some of his favorite experiences to date have been playing in Berlin and at Burning Man, at the famed Pile Palace and Monkey Love Camps. At the rate his star has been rising, 2018 promises to be a big year for M.O.N.R.O.E.!
