Legendary blues harp player James Cotton got his start blowing for Howlin' Wolf's band. He followed that up by leading Muddy Waters' band, before heading out on his own. So he was kind of a big deal by the time he asked Slam Allen to be his lead axeman and singer. That should tell you about Allen's chops, if you don't know him already. A New York Blues Hall of Famer in his own right, Allen wrote and sang all the songs on Cotton's 2011 Grammy-nominated comeback album, "Giant". But these days, he's doing his own thing. If you watch Netflix's hit series "Bloodline", you've probably hummed along to his infectious soul jam "That Day in September," and if you're a fan of Chicago-style blues, you probably did a double take when you heard his ripping solo on "The Blues is Back." Now you can catch this blues-legend-in-the-making live in concert when he hits the stage at The Cutting Room in NYC.
