GOLDN Biography
There are at least 4 bands with the name Golden.
1- Oberlin, OH's Golden. It came together in 1993 with Ian Eagleson (guitar/vocals), Alex Minoff (guitar/vocals), Philip Manley (bass), and Jon Theodore (drums) while attending a local city college. In between studying overseas and various side projects, Golden managed to keep it together. The band's first recordings were two math rockish singles on Harrisburg, PA's Proteen Records. An eponymous album appeared in 1998 on TransSolar; Super Golden Original Movement followed the next year, while the cool pop swirl of Golden Summer was issued in 2000. During this time, Manley was working with Trans Am while Theodore toured with the likes of Royal Trux, Palace, and the Mars Volta. Minoff recorded with Rhode Island's Six Finger Satellite and Weird War and Eagleson worked on a PhD in ethnomusicology. Several EPs followed into the new millennium, but Golden put everything aside in 2002 to focus on their fourth album, Apollo Stars.
2- Canny Golden, Celina Nash and Lucy Golden were a UK indie/synth-pop trio signed to Saint Etienne's Icerink label. They released two singles between 1992-93; 'Anglo American/Don't Destroy Me' (1992) and 'Wishful Thinking' (1993), and appeared on the label sampler 'We Are Icerink', with label mates Shampoo, Earl Brutus and Oval., in 1994. 'Wishful Thinking' was written for the band by Jarvis Cocker, ex-Pulp. The trio disbanded when icerink closed for business in 1994.
3- Twin Cities based rapper Golden. Golden's debut solo album Peddling Machine was released by FreeFlo Records in 2007.
4- Golden is also the stage name of Golden Preciado, part of the outreach at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa
