Boo Hewerdine is one of the great songwriter performers in the business, a unique talent and creative force. As a recording artist, Boo's first tentative steps came with the band, The Great Divide before the formation of his much-loved eighties group The Bible and a career that subsequently bloomed such that he is now in constant demand as a musician, songwriter, producer, teacher and live concert performer. Boo is perhaps more regularly associated with Brit Award winning, former Fairground Attraction singer, Eddi Reader and together they enjoyed international success with the Hewerdine written hit song Patience of Angels in 1995. He also produced Reader's Sings the Songs of Robert Burns, an album now viewed as a folk classic. He has written songs with major artists such as Sia, Kris Drever (Lau), Duke Special, Chris Difford (Squeeze) and Eddi Reader. He first came to Maldon as part of the duo State of the Union with Brooks Williams and that incredible night endeared them both to Maldon audiences ever since. Boo's Songwriting Workshops where he empowers others to achieve their creative aspirations are something of a legend with weekend retreats run locally at The Blue Boar Hotel. In his solo concerts he delivers this rich tapestry of song in a brilliant evening through the hands and voice of the writer himself with his customary dry wit and light-hearted tales weaving the evening together.
