Silence Kit Biography
Howls, hollers, and hooks, amid angular guitar and bewitching noise, Silence Kit’s sound has been characterized as everything from alt-rock to post-punk to grunge, and they’ve become a staple of the Winnipeg music scene. Known for their licentious live performances, they craftily balance raunchy and refined, rising above the static and giving no reason for distraction.
Recorded in Vancouver at Rain City Recorders with Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung, Pack AD), their debut release Silence Kit Presents…. Kitty Kitty, earned the band a wealth of festival plays, touring opportunities, and awakened whispers across the Canadian music scene. With new material, new management, and a clear vision, Silence Kit is poised for another year of climbing rungs, and loudly defying their own name.
File Beside: L7, The Dead Weather, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Smith’s, Metric, Interpol
“…there is a laundry list of bands you could compare them to, which isn’t to say it’s been done before, but rather always has that twinge of nostalgia.” – Olivia Michalczuk, Stylus Magazine, Oct 2018
