The Empty Bottle
BeamsLittle ChurchBaby Money----------BEAMS is a band from Toronto that ultimately defies easy categorization. In their relatively short existence they’ve been called “Art-Country”, “Folk-pop”, “a mix of bluegrass instrumentation, avant-garde noir folk stories,” and most curiously "Spry electropop". BEAMS has worked with the likes of Peter J. Moore (Cowboy Junkies/the Sadies/Neko Case) and John McEntire (Tortoise, Stereolab, Yo La Tengo, Broken Social Scene) and recently just finished shooting a video with Christopher Mills (Modest Mouse, Interpol). They are releasing their new album "Teach Me to Love" on Feb. 23rd and boy we cannot wait to learn.Mixing soul, pop, and a little grunge, LITTLE CHURCH is able to reach many corners of the complex modern soundscape. The refined blend of sparsity, chaos, tenderness, and violence allows this Chicago three piece to make you move, think, and feel in ways both familiar and new.BABY MONEY is the brainchild of Chicago based songwriter Pamela Maurer. What started as a solo project has evolved into a 3-piece band based in the Windy City. Her original songs, ranging from gritty, sparse arrangements, to soulful, roof-shaking foot-stompers, are inspired by garage rockers and girl-groups of the 1960s and 1970s, soul, gospel, and traditional rhythm ‘n’ blues.
