Silent Disco
noun BRITISH informal

An event at which people dance to music that is transmitted through wireless headphones rather than played over a speaker system.

"the organizers chose to have a silent disco because it eliminates noise complaints"

This is a dictionary definition and also a TERRIBLE WAY TO DESCRIBE SOMETHING THAT IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

Allow us, as your giddy hosts (and experienced Silent Disco types), to re-define the...erm...definition for us all:

Silent Disco
noun BRITISH informal

An entirely unique event at which people dance like absolute legends in their own little bubbles to music that not everyone else is listening to because there are numerous channels on the special wireless headphones provided making it possible to choose from a selection of different songs (played by numerous live-DJ's) meaning that you can be screaming out a Prodigy song as loud as you like whilst everyone around you is gently swaying along to Adele's second single.

"the organizers chose to have a silent disco because it eliminates any possibility of people going home grumpy"

Come. You will have the best time. It's a gorgeous, daft, beautiful, riot with a totally open music policy.

(Oh, and your DJs will be acclaimed musicians, music fans and general wags about town Beccy Owen and Will Lang):
