The Duke

The Duke is a psychedelic blues troubadour with an addiction to Rock and Roll. His music is a collection of Blues, 60's Psych, Country, Folk and Modern Rock that combined creates a collage of bouncing rhythms, dirty psychadelic guitars and smooth baritone crooned catchy melodies. Hailing from the city that brought you The Bee Gees, a little place called Redcliffe just north of Brisbane, Australia, he played in a series of local bands before deciding to go it alone and moving to the big city to start his solo expedition as The Duke. Diving head first into his home studio and pouring out his thoughts and feelings on life today seen through the eyes of a pessimistic youth in disarray, his love of music and literature shines prominently throughout his songs. Integrating his love for vintage sounds with his desire to build on modern influences, the music has an unique dark twist to it, like "blood and honey" a lil sweet and a lil dangerous yet with a familiarity to it that lets his social commentary and poetic sarcasm shine brightly throughout his poetry and lyrics. After assembling a band together he took to the stage crafting an exciting and intimate live show that ranges from long sporadic rock and roll psychadelic jams to solo acoustic songs with hint of country and folk undertones that create a very intimate setting. Now after months and months of playing live at numerous venues, festivals, states, tours and showcases and recording a song for a compilation charity album, he is gearing up to release a series of singles from his debut EP. Recorded at Sydney's infamous studio, Studios 301 with engineer/producer Dan Frizza who has worked with the likes os Ash Grunwald, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd the songs are going to be released on The Dukes own label MOJO Records.
