2 Great bands from Portugal invade the Camden's The Monarch on March 15th. SLIMMY and Midnight Ambassador are brought to us in partnership with idobi Radio and Tosta Mista with Alvaro Costa, the first Music Discovery Internet Radio Show from Portugal targeting the international Market.

Slimmy is a Portuguese singer/songwriter whose unique combination of rock and electro has placed him at the forefront of innovative alternative music. In 2007, with the release of his debut album “Beatsound Loverboy”, Slimmy entered into the scene with a bang with the album voted as the 3rd best national album of the past 15 years (as selected by the listeners of Radio Antena 3).That same year, he was nominated for the “Golden Globe Newcomer of the Year” award, as well as the “MTV Europe Music Awards” for best Portuguese artist.

Big River -
After seeing the band Vintage Trouble, guitarist and session musician Damo Fawsett, realised that his first passion, the Blues, was still well and truly alive and now reaching a whole new generation of fans. He then began his search for like minded people and after a session in a Dartford rehearsal studio, Big River was born. Joining Damo, is Adam Bartholomew on vocals, a gentle giant of a man who moves seamlessly between the soulful sound of ‘Paul Rodgers’ and in the next breath screams high notes like ‘Glenn Hughes’, the technically brilliant Luke Calvert on drums, laying down a flawless Billy Cobham-esque groove, perfectly complementing Ant Wellman on bass. Ant had previously played with Damo in the Reagan Browne Band. With a style of Jaco Pastorius and Andy Fraser, he was the perfect choice to lay down the bottom end. Ant currently also tours UK and Europe with The Lambretta’s. Big River have played host to the annual 3G event for two consecutive years with each somehow bettering the previous year. 2016 the guitarists were Dave "Bucket" Colwell (Bad Company, Humble Pie, Rock Steady), Adam Barron (Mick Ralphs Blues Band) and Damo Fawsett (Big River). 2017, once again Dave “Bucket” Colwell and Damo Fawsett, this time joined by Dean Howard (Ian Gillan Band, T'Pau and Cats In Space).

Uncle Rust -
"Fractured Lens" is the 3rd Uncle Rust album. The band, a hard rock London based band consists of 3 members.
The new album is a melodic guitar based rock double album inclusive of 23 original tracks. Justin states "The 23 tracks were demoed during 2017. I had a total of about 40 tracks. I worked on the demo's and they took a shape of their own."
The album was recorded between Survival rehearsal studios in North Acton in London and Justin's studio flat in East London.

The Imaginary Hat -
Behold the musical stylings of The Imaginary Hat; a blend of rock, punk and 1920s jazz, resulting in a band that's as distorted as it is danceable. Through characteristically dark and absurd lyricism (think Cole Porter meets John Cooper Clarke), their songs explore the pitfalls and pleasures of 21st Century life. Since forming in 2014, the band has rapidly gained a reputation for energetic live performances full of onstage antics and spontaneity. 2018 sees a new and expanded line-up, with a powerful brass section of trombone, saxophone and clarinet. Their sophomore EP is out Spring 2018.

Midnight Ambassador -
Whenever you hear the unique synth, percussion heavy, foley filled tracks, the name Midnight Ambassador should be the first to pop up. André Graça, born and raised in Beja, a small city in the south of Portugal where he attended the Regional Music Convervatory. Inspired by artists such and Childish Gambino, Caravan Palace, Glass Animals and Ariana Grande, he ended up finding a passion for singing and songwriting , which lead to the creation of Midnight Ambassador, a Contemporary R&B/Indie Pop solo project that hopes to use André's imagination, musical versatility and experience to break the barriers within this genre.
