Shannon McKenney Biography

Singing makes my soul smile!
I started my professional career with a gig hosting Karaoke around Winnipeg, Manitoba. That led me to be an Anthem Singer for the Winnipeg Jets, Blue Bombers & Goldeyes & later the Vancouver Canucks.
Winnipeg was a hot bed for music back in the 90s. I was privileged to play fine venues with The Big Roll Band, The Ron Paley Big Band, Red Alert, The Divas of Pop, & The Boogie Knights Band who were a phenomena all on their own. The Boogie Knights took a country bar on a Tuesday Night to a night club, Boogie Nights Cabaret, named after our band. We played the Calgary Stampede for 10 days, Corporate gigs across Canada with a Mall opening in Atlanta with Rupaul, Ivana Trump, Carmen Electra, & Tommy Chong!
New Millennium, New City: in 2001 I moved to Vancouver. There I joined super successful Tribute Acts, Nearly Neil & Abra Cadabra. I had a blast touring the world with them
Then life intervened & was laid up with health issues. I NEVER thought I would sing again. Then in October of 2016, my good friends in Boogie Knights, gave me the friendly kick in the ass. It was our 20 year reunion & we kicked the sh*t out of Cowboys Roadhouse in Winnipeg reclaiming our former glory. We joke that we will keep getting together annually until one of us dies & a couple of us almost have!
Vince Fontaine, was in the audience that night. We had been talking about working together for 20 years. It had never worked before as i held on to shame of my Indigenous heritage. Now, I'm a loud & proud Metis Woman. It makes me cry tears of joy to share the stage with Juno Award Winners, Eagle and Hawk, & freshly nominated, Indian City!!!!
Thank you to Paul McNair, Gerry Atwell, Darcy Labiuk, Larry Roy, Stephen Broadhurst, Charlene Kubin, Vince Fontaine, Jay Bodner, Rich Reid, Spatch Mulhall, Rena Semanko, Neewa Mason, Atik Mason, Don Amero, & Jeremy Koz for helping a sister out! I could never have done any of this without you!
In the words of Eagle & Hawk, Life is a Circle!
