Celebrating 50 years of songwriting with a box set and a few UK dates Bob Cheevers makes very welcome return to The Greys, where he played a memorable night on his 1st UK tour (mentioning Brighton in a song that led from those gigs) and, though no stranger since, it's been too long a wait. Bob's an outstanding storyteller whose songs 'take unflinching looks at the psychic demons that still haunt the South' (Acoustic Musician Magazine). He used to open for Johnny Cash alongside playing all over everywhere.

Born in Memphis, now resident in Austin, after a lengthy stay in Nashville, Bob is steeped in the history, the culture, the troubles and the welcoming warmth that permeates these places. There's a huge wit and humour there, too - will he perform the classic 'Underpants'?

Bob writes: February 6th, I leave for London to begin my 13th year of touring across the pond. Over the years, I've played shows in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Sweden, France and Italy. The upcoming tour will be a short run of only 15 concerts over a month's time. Gone are the days of playing 40-65 shows in up to 3 months on the road. A month is a very comfortable time length for me now.

Again this tour, I'll be accompanied by my old friend and frequent tour companion London guitarist Geoff Haves. I met him at least 15 years ago when he, his wife and I were on the same bill at the now defunct 12 Bar in London. After hearing him play... I asked him if he'd like to sit in with me. He's one of those marvellous musicians who doesn't need to know the song to play the perfect parts.

He and his wife Janis have been the duo of Haves And Haves for years, and they will open 4 out of the first 5 shows on this tour. Not only are they close musical friends but are also very dear personal friends of mine with me staying with them for different lengths of time almost every tour. That's one of the best gifts I've gotten over the years of these toursgreat friends who open their homes and their hearts to me. I know I'll be seeing many familiar faces as well as new folks, so please come out to see us when we are in your part of England and Scotland. I'll be easy to recognizeI'll be the guy with the great big smile 'cause I'll be so happy to be back in the UK.'

Welcome back, Bob, and our home is ready for you once again.
