About this concert
February is a month that will see locals of the popular small Ashgrove bar and venue come together for a series of gigs celebrating neighbourhood community spirit. Every Thursday in February will feature a local artist with their choice of support. Kellie Lloyd of Brisbane band Screamfeeder explains the sessions “We thought it was a nice way to connect our community in the area, there are quite of few musicians who live close by on the west side and I thought instead of doing just a one off gig with all of us, we could create a special series of gigs, like a month long festival of Thursday nights. The Junk Bar is such a wonderful place to see someone play and it’s the place brings us together and the sound the Jamie gets in there is nothing if not magical”. Feb 1 - Tim Steward playing with Skye Staniford Feb 8 - Kellie Lloyd playing with Luke Peacock Feb 15 - Ben Ely playing with Seja Feb 22 - Tylea playing with Adele Pickvance

tylea Biography

Tylea first came to prominence in her mid-'90s solo guise, releasing a couple of well-received EPs before fronting the most excellent Bris-band Gota Cola in the late-'90s and early-'00s. When that band called it a day Tylea returned to the solo realms, releasing an EP as Tylea & The Imaginary Music Score before dropping her solo album proper 'Colour My Insecurities’ in 2005. Now she returns with her first new music in over a decade, you can check out the clip for the album’s beautifully sparse first single, Dark River on YouTube.

Produced, recorded and mixed by Jamie Trevaskis, forthcoming album, ‘The Lake of Sand is Stone’ is a celebration and honouring of personal growth. A rich offering for her wide community of fans, The Lake of Sea and Stone is also a treasure for a new generation to discover.

Presented by Electric Moon, Tylea is launching 'The Land Of Sand And Stone' on Friday 15 September inside the gorgeous Old Museum and then hitting Sonic Sherpa on Saturday 16 September for a free all ages set to introduce her new music to the world.
