Join Austin guitarist Jon Lundbom ( for a raucous evening as his trio rages their way through improvisations, contemporary classics, and numbers from the historic Lundbom repertoire. Featuring Sam Pankey on bass and Jeff Olson on drums. Since 2003, “avant-jazz etc” guitarist Jon Lundbom has lead Jon Lundbom & Big Five Chord, with which he has released seven full-length albums and a brand-new series of four EPs. Jon’s music - described as “Hardbop + Zeppelin + Schoenberg” (Dave Madden, ‘SLUG’) - is a showcase for his “intense phrasing and mind-altering solo spots” (Glenn Astarita, ‘All About Jazz’), a “boundary-shattering shot of adrenaline that screws with your head and messes with your soul” (Jordan Richardson, ‘The Seattle PI’). Jon has been called “an idiosyncratic genius harboring boundary-stretching notions in his musical make up” (CJ Bond, ‘’); “hopefully Lundbom will start getting more attention for his fresh perspective, both as a writer and player”(Mike Shanley, ‘ShanleyOnMusic’), “[Jon’s playing brings] new ideas to what jazz guitar can be”(Paul Acquaro, ‘Free Jazz Blog’); “Big Five Chord, individually and collectively, is one of the most important [ensembles] around today” (Gregory Applegate Edwards, ‘Gapplegate Guitar and Bass Blog’). “Olympic-caliber guitar gymnastics” (Bob Gendron, ‘Downbeat’). “A guitarist” (The New York Times). DARK MATTER HORNS: International artist Willie Oteri (sax and flute) leads DarkMatterHorns with Dave Laczko - effected trumpet, Steve Mankenberg - drums. producing other worldly sounds mixed with Free Jazz improvisations. Oteri has been an integral part off the Austin avant guarde jazz scene since the '90s starting with his group MateMaToot in '98 which included Brannen Temple and Chris Maresh later morphing into Jazz Gunn, a popular local act. In 2003 Oteri moved to Italy after the release of his album Spiral Out with bassist Tony Levin and Drummer Pat Mastelotto of King Crimson fame. Oteri returned to Austin in 2008 and formed the duo WD-41 with Laczko, after two well received albums Oteri switched his focus from guitar to tenor sax and flute and DarkMatterHorns was born. "Whatever is in Willie Oteri's water, I think it's high time that it was poured into the two dimensional cesspool which is what some of the homogenized and pasteurized modern music industry has become today." ---Bruce Stringer (Music street jounal) "This is one of those CDs that entirely deserves to be heard by anyone who likes to live inside exotically compelling musical environments. It's rather beautiful too."--Gapplegate Music" $5. donation requested, no door charge and no one is turned away. Please follow the link below to make a donation to keep a great non-profit going.
