The Empty Bottle
FLESH PANTHERSTHE WOOLY BUSHMENTHE SUEVES----------Unhinged cowboy rock band Flesh panthers headline this soulful Free Monday with Florida's The Woolly Bushmen and Chicago's very own THE SUEVES.Over the past few years, they've headlined Glitter Creeps, opened for NICK WATERHOUSE after Do Division, kicked off the HoZac Blackout Fest at the Virgin Hotel and last year shared our stage with BANDITOS and SAINT PE -- we even rocked out with em on a dang boat for one of our Chicago Reader Booze Cruises last year! Needless to say, these boys are the go-to party rockers that Chicago deserves. The leather and denim-clad mad daddies always leave our stage in shambles when they hit us over the head with their infectious, punk-tinged rock & slop. You can bet we eat it up like fresh 'za on a cool spring night, so it's no surprise the FLESH PANTHERS headline our first Free Monday of the spring season.Formed in early 2011 and based out of Winter Park, Florida, The Woolly Bushmen have managed to combine 1960's rock and roll with 1950's rockabilly and a dash of soul, forming their own unique genre of all original crowd-rocking songs. These young musicians (all college age) have captured the respect and admiration of seasoned musicians, some icons in their own right, that are twice their age while grabbing every audience by the scruff of their necks and whipping them into a dance frenzy.THE SUEVES have been blowing up all over Chicago the past few years and show know signs of slowing down. These dudes are an explosive package of sweaty garage-blues-punk not unlike the BLACK LIPS or OBLIVIANS. Let's be real, there's no reason to ever miss THE SUEVES, especially now that they've got a record out on the inimitable HoZac Records and have been picked as a favorite of freakin' CORIN TUCKER of freakin' SLEATER-KINNEY!
