Composing and conducting are big jobs: Composers imagine the music and write it down, and conductors work with orchestras to bring the music to life. But how do they come up with and communicate their ideas, and what inspires their musical talents? In this Music for Families concert at Davies Symphony Hall, the San Francisco Symphony and Resident Conductor Christian Reif explore the music of Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Aaron Copland and several other great American musical heroes. Arrive early and collect stamps for your musical passport, enjoy lobby activities like the instrument petting zoo, coloring stations and a conductor photo station. With a running time of less than 90 minutes, "Work Hard, Play Hard -- The Lives of Composers & Conductors" is the perfect blend of learning and entertainment for families with children ages five and older.
