His time on the road gave him space to hone the unique brand of world-weary optimism and musical eclecticism that comes to light in his songs. With a distinctive voice somewhere between Nick Drake and Tom Waits, Petty’s songs often take listeners on an evocative, emotional journey. Celia Chavez has quietly apprenticed twenty feet from the stardom of artists such as P!nk, Brandon Flowers, Melody Gardot and Julia Fordham as a backup singer. Most recently, Enrique Iglesias thrust her into the international spotlight as his featured romantic duet partner on tour these past four years. With her new collection of self-penned songs, "Dare To Love," Celia returns to the organic, wistful lyricism that has influenced her music since youth. Simon and Celia met when they were assigned to a duet on a David Bowie tribute gig in December 2013. This led to Celia singing on Simon’s album, “The Sad Carousel,” then Simon returning the favor on Celia’s new EP. Their vocal blend and enthusiasm for each other’s work and comes joyfully and naturally, and brings out a different creative side in each artist.
