Strands of Rope is the brainchild of Saxophone player 8th Gate (Patrick Chavis) wanting to create a Hip-hop group with a strong progressive Jazz feel in Orange County, CA. Growing up listening to groups and artists like The Roots, Miles Davis, Nujabes, Black Star, Massive Attack, Guru and many more set the enthusiasm to create the group.
