About this concert
Folk U - a monthly series hosted by Annette Conlon, is a residency that allows her to bring in favorite folk artists to perform in one of Beverly Hill's most unique venues... a Vampire Bar. Where better to play traditional and rural music passed through the ages in oral tradition. From contemporary to roots revival and American folk music we hope to explore it all. With simply their voices and guitars, folk singers are the unplugged artists who tell our collective stories through their songs and stories. Their music conveys universal truths and, in turbulent times, is often a call to action in the form of protest songs. Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and other legendary folk singers/songwriters have rallied audiences around historic causes such as the Civil Rights, peace and feminist movements.
