The Dancing Bones Biography

Matt Bahr is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and founder of the Dancing Bones. He formed the band in the Spring of 2015 with a couple of friends from the University of Central Florida. Hooked on Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin from an early age, Matt was introduced to the "Seattle sound" in college. It was this movement that inspired him to start writing songs and playing in bands. Projects he has been affiliated with in addition to the Dancing Bones include the Vagrants and Mandala. When he isn't playing music, he enjoys surfing, practicing the martial arts, and burning insects with magnifying glasses.

David Starr was definitely born and raised. A lover of rock and roll since the beginning, he picked up the bass in high school because "everybody and his mother plays the guitar". As a teenager, he was deeply influenced by bands such the Kinks, the Animals, the White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Strokes. Eventually his tastes expanded to include more funk and blues as he discovered artists like Jeff Beck and Jamiroquai. David started playing the bass with the Dancing Bones in the Summer of 2016. He continues to develop his own style by exploring the sub-genres of rock and punk music.

Leo Gonzalez grew up in Colombia and lived for a time in New Jersey before moving south to Orlando to escape the cold weather of the North East Coast. He began taking drum lessons at the age of seven and has been exposed to playing styles from heavy metal and punk rock to Latin music and jazz. It is safe to say that he has always had a need to bang on the skins. Leo joined the Dancing Bones in February 2017. Previously he had been a part of projects such as Existential Hate, Orpheus, Fempa, and NSN. In his free time, he enjoys watching soccer, playing video games, and powerlifting.
