Nakamarra Biography

Hailing from the Isle of Wight, Nakamarra are an indie-electro 5 piece, who’s infectious grooves, ambient vibes and dream like vocals set them aside from the crowd.

Hotly tipped by Rob Da Bank, citing their ‘soul, power and instrumental dexterity’ Nakamarra have been making waves on the Isle of Wight music scene since forming mid 2016. After having a successful year of gigs supporting the likes of ‘Anteros’ and ‘Island’, the band are booked to play a range of festivals over summer at the likes of Common People, Bestival & Isle of Wight Festival 2017 Main Stage.

The band have had a string of successful releases, from their debut EP ‘Zacapa’ and their most recently released single ‘Temptress’ which was premiered on Stephenie Nieuwenhuys BBC Introducing Solent show.

The band, currently studying degrees at Platform One College of Music, recently won the Wight Noise competition to perform on this year Main-stage on Saturday 10th June.

“Brooding with no end in sight, the most recent offering from Nakamarra is a rolling track, pushing forward wave after wave of smooth vocals and painstakingly written guitar lines. It’s the first release from their band since their ‘Zacapa’ EP last year, and shows no sign of the band slowing down with their ambient sound.” – Music Soup.

“Nakamarra – expect the unexpected. Dreamy and soulful, you can’t help but be drawn in.” – Steph Nieuwenhuys, BBC Introducing Solent.
