Amazing event ! Extremely Well organized anti gun rally with informed speakers, combined with the uplifting voices of the Nyc youth choir! rosanne’s ethereal and imploringly beautiful rendition of Dylan’s “license to kill” will never be forgotten- if only she would record that song! She was her usual generous self sharing the stage with a musician who tweeted her a gorgeous song - “that made her cry” Jon rosenthal’s success at passing legislation in Massachusetts was encouraging to learn about. The data he shared about the rate of gun violence in the US was shocking and important for everyone to know. Too bad it wasn’t filmed and televised for all to see! So grateful I was there.
It was such an “intimate” gig, just Rosanne and her husband, John Leventhal...who is probably one of the best acoustic guitarists I’ve ever had the privilege to see. Rosanne told stories and sang songs from a variety of her albums and sang two of my favourite tracks, “The Sunken Lands” and “When The Master Calls The Roll” from her last album “The River And The Thread”. It was my first time seeing Rosanne and I’m sure with a full band she’s epic, but it you get a chance to see her with just her husband do it, their harmonies are quite simply fabulous and along with John’s amazingly beautiful guitar playing it’s a real musical experience.
Cash is always good and tonight was no exception. She and John Leventhal kicked off with "Modern Blue" and wowed with every selection. Some slight sound problems didn't detract. Go see her if she comes to your town!
