PALADINO Equally rich in meaning and melody, Paladino delivers honest, heartfelt lyrics and soaring, stirring harmonies. Their songs blend genres (Americana Rock, Indie Folk, Progressive Bluegrass) with poetic imagery and novelistic detail, shot through with real emotion and dynamic musicality. Founded in late 2014, long-term friends Mark Harrig (mandolin/vocals/guitar) and former band member Phil Wamser (concertina/keyboard) set out to start a bluegrass band. Yet, the addition of new friends Matt Webber (guitar/bass), Weston Grit (bass/guitar) and Chad Burgess (drums) brought new influences and instrumentation. Their collection of songs displays a wide array of stylistic diversity due to each member of the band contributing their personally written songs, lyrics and vocals. In 2017, Wamser and Webber left the group, but Chris Haise (piano) and Jon Taglienti (bass) were more than happy to take their places. Following Paladinos debut release Bellows, in 2016 which was nominated for 88Nine Radio Milwaukee Music Awards Album of the Year, Independent Release of the Year, and Band of the Year, they began immediately writing and recording their first full-length album of all new material released Dec 1st, 2017. Titled Friend a Dinosaur, a play on Paladinos name, the upcoming album embraces their alt-country and rock roots, while maintaining the multiple lead singer format. Gone are the classical-inspired layered arrangements juxtaposed with arty folk. In their place: over driven and melodic electric guitars, riff-based anthems and harmony saturated hooks. Those who had appreciated their quirky lyrics will not be disappointed; Friend a Dinosaur runs a whole new gamut of unconventional subject matter with tracks exploring the personification of a home-invading brown insect, a self-aware factory churning out tourist stand trinkets, and even a bittersweet love song for their hometown of Milwaukee. LISTENING PARTY Listening Party, an Americana/Folk rock trio out of Milwaukee, have found a home in the original music scene in the Midwest with their soulful stage presence and infectious melodies. Tales of love, longing, and personal struggle are presented sincerely by singer-songwriter Weston Mueller, a Northern Wisconsin native, with "every note full of expression and feeling" (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). Complemented by Joshua Hester and Jacob Wood, each song paints a portrait as unique and colorful as the bands' respective musical backgrounds. JAY MATTHES Jay Matthes is a singer/songwriter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ben Kieffer of Iowa Public Radio describes Jay's sound as "soulful country" and The Rave/Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee calls his live show "entertaining as hell". Jay plays over 100 shows a year, and has shared a stage with national acts such as Jana Kramer, Old Dominion, Judah & the Lion, Ike Reilly Assassination, Charlie Worsham, and many more. Jay's original music has been featured on local, regional, and national radio and television, most notably The Country Network where the music video for his single "The Light" is currently in rotation. Press has included features in The Modern Folk, Americana Daily, Breaking & Entering, and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, among others. Jay was nominated for Singer/Songwriter of the Year by Wisconsin Area Music Industry in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and recently won Best Male Vocalist in Shepherd Express' Best of Milwaukee. His new album 'Dancing After Dark' was a finalist for 'Independent Release of the Year' at the 2017 88Nine Radio Milwaukee Music Awards.
