New Irish soul acts U.M.A.N released his soul single “Flamin’Day” earlier this year and after receiving it first ever play on the Ian Dempsey show, the single shot to No.4 on the iTunes singles chart! Since then the single went onto break the top 30 radio chart and reach top 10 on Shazam. The single continuing to grown and is already heading towards a quarter of a million plays on Spotify. U.M.A.N which is an abbreviation for U. Must. Act. Now is the new artists name for singer songwriter Brian Flanagan who had perviously released an album that featured a duet with Folk Blues Legend Eric Bibb and joined Bibb on his Irish Tour. Brian also wrote the charity single for Sile Seoige and celebrity choir which included Jack L, Mary Black, Roisin O etc which reached No. 6 in the Irish charts over Christmas and earned 25K for charity, Brian also composed a song for Easter Rising anniversary featuring Finbar Furey.After joining with Collective Management early this year, Brian has been focused on finding a new sound and directions which they have found with the first single from the U.M.A.N project Flamin’Day! Uman Biography
There is a Belgian artist and a French duo with this name:
1) Uman is a French brother and sister team, Didier and Danielle Jean. They released their first CD, Chaleur Humaine, in 1992, their second, Terra Incognita, in 1994. Purple Passage was released in 1997, and You Are Here was released in 2000.
Uman comes from a Native American word, umane, meaning roughly "Earth Forces" (see http://www.lakotaarchives.com/laksymbolpr.html).
The music draws from moods and textures, with the vocals usually blended in as sounds rather than words. The later CDs include artwork by Zad, created especially for the musical compositions.
2) Brussels underground hiphop and ragga veteran (cf. De Puta Madre and soundsystem Bass Culture). Uman's first solo album: "l'aventure c'est l'aventure".
« L’aventure c’est l’aventure » met fin à un silence de quelques années, car depuis le mini album « La Chaîne Alimentaire » en 2003, on avait plus trop de nouvelles discographiques de l’homme, mis à part quelques 45 tours et l’album mixtape « Umanizm ». Uman s’est éloigné des fureurs ragga qui étaient sa marque de fabrique pour accoucher de cet opus plus mélancolique et réfléchi. Réalisé en compagnie du jeune producteur Simon Lesaint, Bai Kamara et Peter Soldan, « L’aventure c’est l’aventure » reste tout de même dans les tons jamaïcains (excepté l’incursion congolaise et énergique de « Comme On A Dit »). Le reggae roots domine, embelli de belles touches acoustiques (mélodica, accordéon, guitare sèche) et d’un soin particulier accordé aux mélodies. Un disque sincère qui contient son lot de franches réussites (« En Avant Toute », « On A Le Temps », « Ma Gueule ») et, malgré une relative uniformité, s’écoute avec plaisir.
