The Lucky Losers, San Francisco’s finest male/female duet fronted five-piece touring band, deliver an inventive, hypnotic spin on 60’s blues and roots music. Cathy Lemons and Phil Berkowitz breathe new life into American songwriting tradition and the vanishing art of duet singing. The stark contrast between Lemons’ velvet voice with a gritty edge and Berkowitz’ elegant tenor makes for an electrifying performance. Their first album, “A Winning Hand” received national attention from critics and made The Roots Music Report’s “Top 50 Blues Albums of 2015.” Their second album, “In Any Town,” made Making a Scene’s “Top Independent Blues Albums of 2016” list plus the indie king nominated them for two Independent Blues Awards. They have been nominated for “Best Traditional Album / 2015,” “Best Contemporary Album /2016” and “Best Harmonica Player/ 2016” by Blues 411. Critics from Bill Kopp to Living Blues have given this songwriting/singing team a huge thumbs up. The Lucky Losers will be performing songs from their new album “Blind Spot” produced at Greaseland Studios with “Keeping the Blues Alive” award winner Kid Andersen. Cathy and Phil will be backed by an all-star band with Jon Otis on drums (Johnny Otis’s son who has played with so many blues giants) Ian Lamson on guitar (toured with Elvin Bishop for 10 years), and Robby Yamilov on bass.
