Doors 8pm / Show 9pmRalphi Rosario (Hot Mix 5, Chicago) Because of his love for music and his desire to share it with others, Ralphi Rosario began spinning records for friends in the late night party scene in Chicago during the late 1970’s. Almost a quarter of a century later the Grammy nominated legend still spins for much larger crowds of friends at massive parties worldwide. Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Brazil, Canada and Portugal to name a few.Ralphi Rosario got his start as a founding member of the influential Chicago DJ group the Hot Mix 5. When this group formed in 1981 on radio station WBMX, Rosario, the youngest member of the group, was still in high school. The Hot Mix 5 went on to become one of the leading forces in the early Chicago house music scene. Creating music history in Chicago and around the world for decades to come. The Hot Mix 5. The American DJ team originating from Chicago, Illinois. The founding members were Ralphi Rosario, Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk, Mickey ‘Mixin’ Oliver, , Kenny ‘Jammin’ Jason, and Scott ‘Smokin’ Silz. Created to act as the resident DJs on Chicago FM radio station WBMX's Saturday Night Live Ain't No Jive mix show, the members quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Darryn Jones (Al-Tone Edits, Chicago) Chicago-based DJ who started in the mid-80s, deep into Modern Soul, Rare Disco, Boogie and other obscure styles.Early on, Darryn Jones was drawn to music with his uncles and older brothers. His first influences in music were Funk, Blues, Jazz and anything that didn't get radio play. From there, Darryn became intrigued by the sounds of WBMX's Hot Mix 5 sprinkled with house legends, Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy. Darryn was a true Preppy (before what we now call House). In 1983 and 1984, Darryn began his deejaying craft of rare grooves by buying records from any place and anyone he could. Darryn continued his quest in the art up to 1987, then stepped away for some years. He never gave up the search for the black gold which turned out to be perhaps a blessing in disguise. On his return in 2006, Darryn brought with him something different to the Chicago House Scene: the Durties in Disco Funk, which had been highly rejected. His style has influenced the dark underground, disco and funk scene massively. Darryn has residences at the Punch House every second Saturday and the Whistler every last Saturday of the month.$10 all night.
