Sideswipe Biography
Originally from the UK, Philadelphia based Sideswipe fuses footwork, jungle and soul to create a different flavour at 160 beats per minute.
After DJing a wide range of genres in London and Philadelphia, Sideswipe began producing in 2012 debuting with his “Brown Paper Bag” remix Ground Mass Music the following year. This was followed in 2014 by a breakthrough vinyl release on Modern Ruin alongside Pawn, The Renegades and Vorres.
Two extended plays followed shortly with “Steppin’ Out” (Dynamix Records) and “Memories” (Ground Mass) alongside appearances on Philthtrax, SmashTales and Dred Collective throughout 2014.
After an extended break Sideswipe returned in 2015 with a new collaborative project with Nikes (808K) and Iyer (Phyla) named Forbidden Trax. This was an outlet for the trio’s bootleg archive as well as to premier and distribute club VIPs and edits. In addition to the bootleg imprint 2015 saw new tracks on Juke Bounce Werk, Bass = Win and ItalDred as well as remixes for Rico Tubbs and Ndege.
2016 will see the continuation of the Forbidden Trax imprint plus a new EP in the Spring. #RIPRashad
