Campbell Youngblood-Petersen Biography

Campbell Youngblood-Petersen is a New York City based drummer, composer, and educator.

A lifelong student of music, Campbell has studied with Jeff Brandt, Dr. Robert Ledbetter, Peter Retzlaff, Jordan Perlson, Nate Smith, and Mark Guiliana.

Campbell composes original music for his own band, a group he performs and records regularly with in the New York area on top of performing and recording with pop-rock outfit Punch the Sun, improvisatory jazz group Groove Soup, the electronic drum and bass duo Flightless Birds, and a variety of other projects.

A passion for teaching has continued to grow in Campbell’s adult years, and he has held a private teaching practice teaching drums, percussion, and piano since 2013. He is currently a faculty instructor at the Larchmont Music Academy as well as Guitar Center Times Square. He founded the online drum education channel “Simple Drums Done Well,” in the fall of 2020.

As a performing and touring musician, Campbell has been fortunate to perform on stages from California to New York, Texas through the midwest, Montana and beyond. He has had the opportunity to share the stage with Galactic, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Buckcherry, Dumpstaphunk, Orgone, Gracie and Rachel The Wailers, and The New Mastersounds. New York appearances range from venues like the legendary Rockwood Music Hall to The Knitting Factory, The Brooklyn Bowl to Tomi Jazz and many more.

Campbell holds a Bachelors of Music in percussion performance from The University of Montana in Missoula, MT, and a certificate in jazz from the Drummers Collective in New York City.
