DJ Bishop Biography

DJ Bishop, also known as “Dat Eclectic DJ”, has built a strong reputation in the biz as one of the most dynamic and diverse DJ’s to ever master the 1s and 2s. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Bishop has been influenced by many of the greats that have also originated there. Now residing just twenty minutes outside of Philadelphia after relocating from Smithfield, Rhode Island and Hartford, Connecticut, Bishop doesn’t neglect any form of music that’ll “keep ‘em on the dance floor.”

Today, the 2010 IDJ Internet DJ of the Year can be found in the mix heavy. Whether it’s at a private gig, a club, on the radio, or on your TV and/or mobile device, you can count on musical experience like no other.

DJ Bishop has spun at some of the hottest spots in the South Jersey / Philadelphia area including Top Dog (Cherry Hill, NJ), PJ Whelihan’s (Cherry Hill, NJ), Club 27 (Philadelphia, PA), Recess Lounge (Philadelphia, PA), and the all new XFinity Live (Philadelphia, PA). He has made guest appearances at clubs in Atlantic City (Casbah, Trump Beach Bar) and Las Vegas (Planet Hollywood). He spins open format music (Dance, Top 40, Hip-Hop, R&B, House, Rock, Disco, Latin, Reggae, 80’s, 90’s, and more) and music videos. DJ Bishop is also an official member of the Bumsquad DJz Worldwide, a worldwide DJ organization.

In 2012, DJ Bishop linked up with the all new iFameTV Network and produces “THA’ HUNGA VIDEO MIXTAPE SHOW”, a video mix of today’s hottest unsigned and independent artists. His show can be seen exclusively on the Roku Streaming Media Player – a device which resides in over 3 million households throughout the US, plus recently expanding in the UK and Ireland. The show can also be watched on YamgoTV via desktop PCs, smartphones, mobile phones, tablets, connected TVs and applications.

In 2005, DJ Bishop made his return to radio by producing, mixing, and hosting a weekly Internet radio show called “ENTER THE ECLECTIC“. Due to the show’s impressive popularity, it has been picked up and syndicated on several radio stations across the country and overseas including where it all began for DJ Bishop, WJMF Radio 88.7 HD2, Bryant University Radio. Seven years later, “ENTER THE ECLECTIC” is still running and is better than ever. “ENTER THE ECLECTIC” was voted as one of the Top 20 Internet Shows for 2011. From time to time, DJ Bishop will guest mix for other stations as well. DJ Bishop was a guest mixer on the nationally syndicated Michael Baisden Show where his mixes were heard on over 60 FM stations nationwide.

More About DJ Bishop
Bishop started his career in 1994 as a radio DJ on WJMF 88.7FM (Rhode Island) by hosting two radio shows on Saturday and Sunday Mornings. While hosting both shows, Bishop branched out and became a freelance DJ for Bryant University’s home basketball and volleyball games. Shortly thereafter, he became the resident DJ for the Bryant University Cornerstone – Bryant’s campus pub.

Upon graduating from Bryant University in 1998, Bishop relocated to Hartford, Connecticut and began to guest spin at several clubs in the area….thus DJ BISHOP ENTERTAINMENT was born.

In 2001, Bishop relocated to Philadelphia where he became the resident DJ for “The Groove Shack” located in the Jillians Entertainment Complex (now Dave & Busters). At the same time, he also joined the talented entertainment staff of DJ’s Available Sound & Light in Moorestown, NJ as a DJ-For-Hire. Working for both companies have given Bishop exposure not only to multiple styles of music, but to multiple types of parties. It’s this style that branded him the nickname of “eclectic” from his friends and family.
