JOKI Biography
Born south of Chicago, now residing in Richmond, Virginia, Nate Stull (aka Jōki) brings a unique twist to the electronic music scene combining the aestheics of synthwave with the sounds of modern bass music. For years he's had a deep love and passion for electronic music; ever since being introduced to and inspired by artists such as Deadmau5, Daft Punk and Skrillex as a young boy. His music career started at the age of 18 when he met his now best friend, Ross Sheehy (Subarashī), who welcomed him to the world of bass music by teaching him everything he knew. Jōki and Subarashī currently have a collaborative side project known as 'VAPORASHII', combining the experimental, wet wubs of Suba with the deep, wavy atmosphere of Jōki. Fast forward one year, Jōki is beginning to make moves around the DMV providing support for artists including: Barely Alive, Virtual Riot, Kill The Noise, Bear Grillz, HE$H, Jantsen, Goldfish, RaceCarBed, Tre Justice, Sketchy Pete, and Choppy Oppy. In early 2018, Nate Stull (Jōki) founded a local, independent record label known as 'Sound.wav Syndicate', composed of 15 of the most talented local DJ's and producers Richmond, VA has to offer. With plenty of juicy collabs already released and a handful of original content currently in the works, this act is one you DON'T wanna miss. Prepare yourselves for a journey through the cyberdelic retrofuture. Jōki 蒸気 brings an unforgettable mix of deep dub, hybrid trap and new wave with deep house, jump-up and riddim.
