Stoned Cobra Biography
The story of Stoned Cobra is one of confusion, inebriation, denim and leather. To the best of their knowledge, this is how it all happened. Stoned Cobra was born in Birmingham, AL in 2006 as a side-project for 4 Alabama musicians who at the time came from bands in the speed metal, thrash and post-rock genres. The collaboration began as an idea to lose some of the speed and complexities within current projects and develop a heavier and more simplified sound; essentially combining the tones and power of 90’s “desert rock” with the riffs and stylings of early 70’s classic metal. What started as something to do over a couple cases of beer, became a joke that wouldn't die. The original lineup consisted of Krothe (Filleter, Necronomikids) on guitar, Wahl (Promise the Ghost, Riding Giants) on bass, Reed (Alan Ogg, Mordex) on drums and Isley (Hoss, Astral Tramp) on guitar and vocals. In 2010 Wahl would move to second guitar and Isley would take over the bass. In 2015 Birmingham metal veteran, Alan Light (Mephotis, Catchfire), joined the band as bassist and quintessential hype man, allowing Isley to move back to (3rd) guitar. With all consideration of hearing ability aside, the heavy... got heavier. Stoned Cobra has performed with bands such as Gwar, Torche, Truckfighters, Akimbo, Weedeater, Nashville Pussy, Artimus Pyledriver, Venomous Maximus, Valient Thorr, Inter Arma, Black Tusk, Coliseum, Man or Astro-Man and more; and under the influence of Good People Brew, Jose Cuervo, Miller High Life, Jack Daniels, and more. The band has 3 releases to date: A split record with Birmingham metal band, Arclight, titled “Thrones” a full length titled “High and Mighty” and an EP titled "Armed and Hammered" which was released in April of 2016. Throw your goats. Full blown floor tom.
