Francesco Filizzola and Colomboloco Biography

Francesco is supported by the great Colomboloco band and together they are the most fun you can have in London or wherever you would like them to play for you.

A blend of the best Dolce Vita swing, Spanish-Latin fire, rock and roll extravaganza, opera power, lounge music charm, and Neapolitan and tarantella flavour.

Francesco enjoys residencies in many of London’s most prestigious music venues, has performed at festivals and toured across the UK and Europe. He has also popped up at private parties for the likes of The Rolling Stones, Prince Charles, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Ariane, Queen Sofia, Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg, Princess Beatrice, Crown Princess Marie-Chantal, Princess Michael, Princess Maria Olympia, Queen Anne Marie, Princess Tatiana and Princess Irene, Deep Purple, Boris Johnson, Johnny Depp, Kylie Minogue, Gordon Ramsay, and many more.

The band’s musicians hail from Italy, Spain, Greece, UK and Turkey, and Francesco sings in several languages including English, Italian, Spanish, French, Hebrew and Russian.

Francesco Filizzola Di Tomaso was born on the West coast of Southern Italy (Praia a Mare) and grew up in Rotonda, a small village in the heart of the National Park of Pollino. Mountains and sea, combined with the classical and folk music typical of the area, have always played an important role in Francesco’s life and contributed to shape his personality and philosophy. He was lucky enough to grow up in a family where music was extremely important. It was his grandfather Giosuè Filizzola (a composer of classical music) who passed the passion for music on to him and once told him: “You need to play only what you really feel and make sound without forgetting the importance of silence”. After initially studying classical trumpet, Francesco moved on to focus on vocal studies, developing a highly original vocal style taking in techniques as diverse as Italian Opera (Covent Garden) and Mongolian throat singing. Combined with his natural talent for theatricality and physical expressiveness, he moves effortlessly through this astonishing range of vocal styles to create a captivating and often tragic-comic stage personality
