Stefan Gruenwald

Stefan Grünwald, Mitbegründer von Clubland Records, Produzent von SM-Trax und Nightwatchers sowie DJ seit 1988, gehört mit zu den bekanntesten DJ’s von Hamburg.

Seine DJ Stationen in Hamburg waren u.a. die Discothek TRINITY, wo er zusammen mit Jens Thele als Resident jeden Samstag aufgelegt hat. Dann folgten das TRAXX, Palladium, Lagerhaus, Kontor, Madhouse sowie die legendäre Club Reihe „Mo-tion Club“, die ihn deutschlandweit u.a. nach Köln in den Wartesaal sowie nach München ins P1 zum Auflegen brachte.

Parallel dazu brachte er das Dance Projekt SM-Trax an den Start, welches mit der ersten Single „Got The Groove“ die Nr. 1 der Billboard Dance Charts erreichte und wodurch ihm auch internationale DJ Bookings u.a. in Kanada im Parragon, Miami im Warsaw oder im Twilo in New York beschert wurden.

2006 / 2007 wurde dann das House Projekt „Oliver Backens & Stefan Gruenwald“ auf Clubland veröffentlicht mit den Singles „Alive“ und „La Magia“ gefolgt von seiner ersten eigenen Solo Single "Anytime Is Housetime“.

Anfang 2008 produzierte er mit seinem langjährigen Freund „Jerry Ropero“ das Projekt „Stefan Gruenwald vs. Jerry Ropero“. Die erste Single, eine Cover Version von Baby D’s Klassiker „Let Me Be Your Fantasy“, eroberte die weltweiten Clubs im Sturm und die aktuelle 2009er Follow-Up Single „Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime“ mit Daniel Lopes als Vocalist ging denselben Weg und wurde u.a. in den USA an das Kult House Label „NERVOUS Records“ verdealt.

Die zweite Produktion Mitte 2009 war dann wieder für das Projekt „Oliver Backens & Stefan Gruenwald“ und ist eine Cover Version einer der ersten Vocal House Kracher aus dem Jahre 1990. Gesungen wird der Titel dieses Mal von der in München geborenen halb Marokkanerin Ela Wardi.

Ende Mai 2010 wurde dann die neue Single von „Stefan Gruenwald vs. Jerry Ropero“ mit der Sängerin Ela Wardi veröffentlicht worden, eine Cover Version von dem alten Yazoo Klassiker „Dont Go“.

In 2011 wurde das Projekt „Jerry Ropero & Stefan Gruenwald with Monica Moss – Canta“ über das Label „Blanco Y Negro“ in Spanien veröffentlicht und die neuste Produktion „Jerry Ropero & Stefan Gruenwald feat. Gitano – Cancion Del Mariachi“ wurde Anfang Juni 2012 über Kontor Records auf diversen Kopplungen veröffentlicht und wurde dann Ende 2012 noch an das Dance Label +MAS in Mexico lizensiert, die für den Titel ein Video gedreht haben.

Die Single wurde 2013 weltweit mit einem fetten Remix Paket veröffentlicht.

Die Single "Canta" wird jetzt im Mai 2014 mit einem neuen Remix Paket veröffentlicht.

Stefan Gruenwald is the owner of Clubland Records and also a very famous german DJ since 1988.

He started to produce in 1996 first the club project M.A.S. Project followed in 1997 by the worldwide famous project SM-Trax „Got The Groove“ which was licensed in the US by Groovelicious and went straight to No. 1 in the US Billboard Dance Charts back in 1999, some side projects like TV Junkeez, Black Jack and remixes have been done under different names like Steve Woods, Grynaldo or Clubland Allstars untill the last project Nightwachters in 2002.

The progressive trance project Nightwatchers has been produced with the famous german actor Marek Erhardt and Bob Cruise who has been also involved in the SM-Trax Project.

In 2007 the house project under the name of Oliver Backens & Stefan Gruenwald has been released on Clubland Records with their singles „Alive“ and „La Magia“ followed by his first solo single called „Anytime Is Housetime“.

In the beginning of 2008 he did a collaboration with his old friend Jerry Ropero under the project name „Stefan Gruenwald vs. Jerry Ropero“. The production is a cover version of the old classic by “Baby D. – Let Me Be Your Fantasy” which contains versions by both of them so that both can show their skills and styles and was a worldwide club smash played by all the important key DJ’s around the globe. The follow-up single „Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime“ featuring Daniel Lopes on the vocals was also a smash and was signed to NERVOUS Records in the USA.

Also released in 2009 was a single by „Oliver Backens & Stefan Gruenwald“ featuring the great female vocalist „Ela Wardi“. They did a cover version of the old house classic back from the 90’s „Hold On (Tighter To Love) originally done by Kym Mazelle and Steve ‚Silk’ Hurley.

2010 has started with a new single by „Stefan Gruenwald vs. Jerry Ropero“. This time they teamed up with Ela Wardi on the vocals and did a great cover version of Yazoo’s „Dont Go“ which as released in Mai 2010 with some great remixes.

In 2011 a new „Jerry Ropero & Stefan Gruenwald“ were produced this time with Monica Moss on vocals and this one was released by „Blanco Y Negro“ worldwide. Followed in the mid of 2012 by the production „Cancion Del Mariachi“ which has been released in GSA with Kontor Records and was also signed now to the label +MAS in Mexico which did a video for this single.

Official Release was in August 2013 also with a big remix package.

In 2014 the track "Canta" will be re-released with a new great remix package.
