The Lovelocks Biography

“Their blended harmonies are something special…and the musical arrangement is modern. We’re obsessed.”– FLARE

Toronto, ON (June 19, 2018) – Today, CCMA Award winning duo The Lovelocks announce the release of their latest EP, “20 Dollars In My Pocket”, available July 13th via MDM Recordings Inc./Universal Music Canada. The title-track second single is available at radio June 29th, but fans can pre-order the album via iTunes to score it and second instant-grat track; the fun-loving lead single “Staycation” which sits at over 400,000 streams to date.

“We are very excited to be launching ‘20 Dollars In My Pocket’ and to show a different side of our band with this album”, say The Lovelocks. “Last year was the toughest we’ve experienced as artists; struggling under the pressures of the industry, and enduring what can only be described as creative burnout. We decided to use the last year to experiment with different sounds, styles and song ideas and the resulting EP has brought us through the fire, emerging from the ashes. Although it was a difficult journey, we are so thankful to have gone through this important creative process to get to where we are today. We are infinitely proud of this album; it showcases a fuller version of who we are as artists, and we hope you experience as much joy listening to it as we did creating it!”

“20 Dollars In My Pocket” takes the listener down a different path than previous releases, infusing broad-based pop sensibilities into the already genre-bending sound The Lovelocks fans have come to love. Friends first, The Lovelocks (Ali Raney and Zoe Sparrow) are woven together with a desire to create music that gives voice to both the bitter and sweet in life. With a deep passion for their craft and music, the duo share a strong desire to be leaders in the movement of bringing female voices back to the top of the Canadian country radio airwaves

The Lovelocks were recently crowned “Roots Artist of the Year” and the CMAO Awards which took place in London, ON earlier this month. Celebrated for their soul stirring performances and melodic strings, the duo has an impressive four consecutive CCMA Award nominations in the Roots Artist or Group of the Year category, garnering their most recent this past year. Having first caught the attention of the Canadian country music industry when they won the CCMA Discovery Series in 2014, their 2014 debut self-titled EP featured the highly-praised singles “Dance” and “Teardrop Tattoo” and hit #2 on the iTunes Country chart the day of release. Their sophomore album “Born To Love” dropped in 2016 and saw the release of three singles including “Home Sweet Home” which was the #1 selling single by a Canadian country artist the week of release. Their unique take on the Cyndi Lauper classic “Time After Time” infused the iconic song with upbeat roots country sounds and signature fiddle interplays helmed by five-time CCMA Fiddle Player of the Year Award nominee Raney.

Combining a lot of talent, a story to tell and a profound work ethic, The Lovelocks will surely have a lot to celebrate in 2018.
